Abstract Expressionist Sculpture
This sculpture was made by drilling holes into a block of wood, and manipulating wire into twists and curls. Then we covered them in masking tape and painted gesso over the whole sculpture (a primer-like protective layer of white paint). After this layer dried, we took various colored paints and splattered them over our sculptures. Abstract Expressionism focuses on emotional intensity and the energetic application of paint as well as the physical act of painting.
